Installation Note 38933: An out-of-memory error occurs when you remove the startup.properties file for the Oracle WebLogic Administration Server
When you perform a host name change, a ChangeHostName_date.html file
is created that contains further instructions for you to complete. In that file, you will see the following step:
Nodemanager caches the startup parameters for each managed server in
<configdir>/Lev1/Web/SASDomain/servers/<ManagedServer>/data/nodemanager
startup.properties.
Delete this file for each Managed Server on this machine. The file will be
re-created the next time you start the Managed Server. Note, the
startup.properties file should not be deleted for the AdminServer.
You need to ensure that you do not delete the startup.properties file from the Administration Server. If you do, the following error appears in the WebLogic log:
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
If you delete this file, you must find a backup version and restore it.
