Usage Note 37813: Opening PDF files from within SAS® Web Report Studio
SAS Web Report Studio enables you to open PDF files from within the application. To make the PDF files available, you use SAS Management Console to upload the files to a location that is visible to SAS Web Report Studio.
The following steps explain how to upload the files and open them in SAS Web Report Studio, depending on your release.
SAS Web Report Studio 4.31 and later
- Log on to SAS Management Console as an administrator or another user who has the appropriate permissions.
- On the Folders tab, right-click the Shared Data folder (or a designated subfolder) and select Add Content From External Files or Directories.
- In the Choose Source Files or Directories dialog box, select SAS report component, (*.*) in the Files of type drop-down list.
- Navigate to the location of the PDF that want to upload, select the file, and then click Open.
- (Optional) Enter a File Description and click OK.
- In SAS Web Report Studio, select File ► Open and use the Open dialog box to navigate to the location of the PDF file that you just uploaded.
The PDF opens in a separate window.

- Log on to SAS Management Console as an administrator or another user who has the appropriate permissions.
- On the Folders tab, right-click the Shared Data folder (or a designated subfolder) and select Add Content From External File(s) or Directories.
- In the Specify Source File(s) or Directories dialog box, select All Files from the Files of type drop-down list.
Note: The PDF files must be uploaded with a nonspecific (All Files) file type.
- Navigate to the location of the PDF that want to upload, select the file, and then click Open.
- (Optional) Enter a File Description and click OK.
- In SAS Web Report Studio, select File ► Open and use the Open dialog box to navigate to the location of the PDF file that you just uploaded.
The PDF opens in a separate window.
