Problem Note 37267: "Error: 'Element' is an invalid XmlNodeType" when importing file into SAS® Enterprise Guide® 4.2

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

When trying to import a delimited text file with a .dat extension into SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2, you might see the following errors. These errors might appear even though the file can be successfully imported into SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1.

This error appears when attempting to RUN the import data node:

ERROR: The following problems were encountered while reading the Import
Data task's state from XML which will prevent the task from running:
Internal Error: Missing SourceSpecificInfo derived class for
SourceEnumType Undefined.

This error appears when trying to MODIFY the import data node:

SAS Enterprise Guide has encountered a problem. We recommend that you save your
work and restart SAS Enterprise Guide.
-------------------------------------------------------- System.Xml.XmlException 'Element' is an invalid XmlNodeType. Line 1, position 260. --------------------- Technical Information Follows System.Xml.XmlException: 'Element' is an invalid XmlNodeType. Line 1, position 260.

Currently, the workaround is to change the extension of the file from .dat to .txt before importing the file into SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2.
