Usage Note 37052: Instructions for manually unpacking (exploding) SAS® Web-application .ear files
When you use JBoss as the Web application server for SAS Web applications, you can improve the start-up time by manually unpacking (exploding) the .ear files. Jboss normally unpacks the files every time the application server is restarted. However, with manual unpacking of the .ear files, JBoss no longer needs to perform that step and the start time is improved.
To manually unpack a SAS Web-application .ear file, follow these steps:
Note: JBoss should be stopped while applying these steps
- Download and unzip this file.
- Edit either the ear2dir.bat or the ear2dir.sh file and change the JAVA_HOME path to the location
where the Java Development Kit (JDK)1.5 is installed.
- Move the .ear files from the default directory (/deploy_sas) to another directory (for example,
/not_deploy_sas).
- Execute the .bat script or the .sh script, and include both the the directory that contains the .ear files and the directory in which the JBoss application server expects the .ear files to be, as shown in this example:
ear2dir.bat "c:\jboss-4.2.0.GA\server\SASServer1\not_deploy_sas"
"c:\jboss-4.2.0.GA\server\SASServer1\deploy_sas"
