Installation Note 37726: Errors might occur if the WORK option specifies a junction point in a Microsoft Windows Vista operating environment
When the value of the WORK option specifies a Windows junction point, the following
errors occur:
ERROR: Insufficient authorization to access WORK library
ERROR: path to junction point
ERROR: Unable to use WORK as the default value for the UTILLOC option
NOTE: Unable to initialize the options subsystem.
ERROR: (SASXKINI): PHASE 3 KERNEL INITIALIZATION FAILED.
ERROR: Unable to initialize the SAS kernel
On a Vista machine, the directory path
C:\documents and settings\_user_ is a junction point (a symbolic link in Windows) to the directory path
C:\Users\_user_.
There is no workaround for this issue.

fixed.
The errors "ERROR: Insufficient authorization to access WORK library" and "ERROR: Unable to use WORK as the default value for the UTILLOC option" occur when specifying a junction point as the location of the WORK library.
