Problem Note 37685: SAS® Deployment Manager fails during configuration of the SAS Shared Services Web application
If your metadata server name includes a hyphen, SAS Deployment Manager will fail while it is configuring the SAS Shared Services Web application. The message in the Configuration Failure window includes an error-retrieving file from the virtual jar repository (VJR) TableServer. The biservmid_buildWebapps log contains an exception similar to the following:
EXCEPTION: The application could not log on to the server "sas-dev.com:port".
The message you receive references your server name. However, in this example, notice that the host name (sas-dev.com) contains a hyphen. If you look further in the log file, the following error appears:
ERROR 13-12: Unrecognized SAS option name, -.
The failure occurs because of the hyphen in the host name. To work around the problem, do the following:
- Edit sasTransactionalTasks.xml in the directory C:\Program Files\SAS\SASDeploymentManager\9.2\products\unique-identifier-for-product-contents-and-metadata\Utilities. Note: In this path, unique-identifier-for-product-contents-and-metadata represents a six-part directory name, for example, cfgwizard__92240__prt__xx__sp0__1.
- Search for the following line in the stDeleteMetadata section:
String dsnDeleteMacro = "options metaserver="+metaserver+"
metaport="+metaport+" metauser='"+metauser+"'
metapass='"+metapass+"';\n"+
- Add single quotation marks around "+metaserver+", as shown here:
String dsnDeleteMacro = "options metaserver='"+metaserver+"'
metaport="+metaport+" metauser='"+metauser+"'
metapass='"+metapass+"';\n"+
- Rerun SAS Deployment Manager.
These steps solve the immediate problem. The problem is fixed in the third maintenance release for SAS 9.2 (TS2M3).
