Usage Note 37521: ODBC driver-manager errors occur when you use the SAS® 9.2 PC Files Server with the EXCELCS or the ACCESSCS engines
When you attempt to use the SAS 9.2 PC Files Server with the EXCELCS or ACCESSCS engines, you can receive the following error:
ERROR: CLI error trying to establish connection: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]
Data source name not found and no default driver specified
ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement.
Connection Failed. See log for details.
NOTE: The SAS System stopped processing this step because of errors.
This error can occur even when the SAS 9.1 PC Files Server runs successfully.
The problem occurs because the SAS 9.2 PC Files Server uses the version 12 Microsoft Office 2007 ODBC driver to connect to the Microsoft Access Connectivity Engine. The SAS 9.1 PC Files Server uses the version 4 Microsoft Office 2003 ODBC drivers connecting to the Microsoft Joint Engine Technolgy.
To resolve the problem, install the Office 2007 ODBC driver, which works with both Office 2007 and Office 2003 files. You can download the driver from Microsoft's Web page
2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components
You can also install the driver by installing Microsoft Office 2007 or the Office 2007 conversion kit on your machine.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
The SAS 9.2 PC File Server uses the version 12 ODBC drivers that link to the Microsoft ACE (Access Control Entry) rather than the Microsoft JET (Joint Engine Technology) which are Version 4 drivers. If the version 12 drivers are not present ODBC errors will occur.
