Usage Note 36947: Optimize Measure Data Items for SAS Web Report Studio
In order for a measure data item to take advantage of a performance optimization feature that is introduced in SAS Web Report Studio 4.2, follow these guidelines for the data item:
The data item's expression should reference data items instead of directly referencing columns.
The aggregate function of a referenced data item should be specified as a property of that data item and should not be defined in the data item's expression.
For example, you want to calculate the square of the sum of the values in the table column Weight. If you create a data item with the following expression (which directly references the column), then the data item would not be optimized when it is used in a SAS Web Report Studio report:
SUM(<<CLASS.Weight>>)*SUM(<<CLASS.Weight>>)
In order for the data item to be optimized, perform these tasks:
Create a data item named DI_Weight for the Weight column.
In SAS Information Map Studio, select SUM(argument) on the Classifications, Aggregations, Formats tab in the Data Item Properties dialog box.
Create a second data item named DI_Weight_Squared with this expression:
<<root.DI_Weight_ID>>*<<root.DI_Weight_ID>>
(DI_Weight_ID is the data item ID for DI_Weight.)
This data item will be optimized when it is used in a SAS Web Report Studio report.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
In SAS 9.2, if an information map has large data sources and you use the information map for a SAS Web Report Studio report, then you might want to modify certain calculated measure data items to optimize performance.
