Usage Note 36554: Time values might display as the date value 1/0/1900 when you export data to Microsoft Excel
When you use the DBMS=EXCEL option to export data from the SAS® System to Microsoft Excel, time values (for example, 5:45) might be displayed as the date value 1/0/1900. This problem occurs because of limitations with the Microsoft JET and ACE engines that the EXCEL engine uses.
To circumvent the problem, do one of the following:
- Select the column in Excel and format it as a time value by selecting Format ►
Cells. Then select a time format.
- Export your data using DBMS=XLS rather than DBMS=EXCEL. Note:In SAS®, the XLS engine can only export a single sheet to an Excel
file.
