Problem Note 36456: The SAS® ODBC driver cannot connect, using default settings, to a SAS/SHARE® server in the z/OS operating environment
The following error occurs when you connect a SAS 9.2 ODBC driver client to a SAS/SHARE 9.2 server under z/OS and you use the driver's default SQL options:
length of message segment 1 should be non-zero
The SAS/SHARE server reports that it is using EBCDIC encoding to the ODBC driver, but it still transcodes character data to Windows format.
As a workaround, select the Use client code page check box in the SQL options for the data source in the SAS 9.2 ODBC Driver wizard.
