Installation Note 36395: When using the SAS® Deployment Wizard to configure a SAS® 9.2 installation, configuration fails with an error
In SAS 9.2, the customer-facing values for SAS® Foundation
have been incremented in the SAS Deployment Registry (registry.xml) with each SAS 9.2 revision. Beginning with SAS 9.2 (TS2M0) revision 09w40, the release numbers stop incrementing and release 9.21 becomes the standard release number.
This change should reduce possible configuration errors because the
SASINSTALL key name value in the registry.xml file communicates the version of SAS Foundation that is required during configuration.
Prior to SAS 9.2 (TS2M0) revision 09w40, if you used the SAS Deployment Wizard to configure your installation, a message that includes this text might display:
SAS Foundation 9.2xx is not installed.
In this message xx equals the product version number.
The message is generated because the SAS Deployment Wizard is unable to find the appropriate configuration script.
The version that is displayed in the message varies according to which version you have.
Important: If you get this error, take note of the version number that is displayed prior to acknowledging
the error message, because you will need it in order to make the following changes:
- Navigate to
c:\program files\sas\deploymntreg\ and copy and paste the registry.xml file to the same location to ensure that you have a backup copy of the file for security.
- With the information from the error message, use a text or XML editor to open the
c:\program files\sas\deploymntreg\registry.xml
file.
- Find the SASINSTALL key name
entry in the registry.xml file:

- Change the version key for
SASINSTALL, using the version number found in the error message.
For example, change

- Save the file.
- Restart the SAS Deployment Wizard and perform a configuration through the SAS
Deployment Wizard.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
The SAS release number is being set to 9.21 at revision 09w40 for the key name values SASINSTALL and ADMINWIZARD. This should prevent configuration errors.
