Usage Note 36100: Logging on to SAS® Management Console gives 'The application could not log on to the server. The user ID "sasadm@saspw" or the password is incorrect.'
During problem diagnosis, SAS Technical Support might ask you to log on to SAS Management Console. If you enter the wrong password three times, your id will be locked out. The error pop-up will give this message:
The application could not log on to the server <Server name>. The
user ID "sasadm@saspw" or the password is incorrect.
The Metadata server log will show the following:
New client connection (63) rejected from server port 8561 for user sasadm@saspw.
During installation of SAS® Data Mining for the Classroom, SAS® Enterprise Miner™ for Desktop, or SAS® Enterprise Miner™ (single machine), you are not prompted to enter a password for the internal SAS ids (sasadm@saspw, sastrust@saspw). The password that you specified when you entered your windows (domain or machine) userid/password is used.
In order to reset that password, you will need to follow the instructions outlined in SAS(R) 9.2 Intelligence Platform: Security Administration Guide.
Once the password is reset, you should be able to log on to SAS Management Console successfully.
