Problem Note 35279: Tomcat is not passing national language support (NLS) characters to the SAS® Anti-Money Laundering database

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

The Tomcat 4.x servers are not passing NLS characters to the SAS Anti-Money Laundering database. For languages other than English, request parameters cannot be read correctly using UTF-8, because request parameters appear to be in specific encoding.

When you enter NLS characters, such as the Spanish tilde, Tomcat saves the characters as "?" due to improper encoding.

The request parameters should be read in a specific encoding. For example, iso-8859-1 for Spanish.

A new property, called request.characterEncoding, is added to the sasaml.config file for character encoding. This property will need to be set to the localized encoding in order for Tomcat to correctly read request parameters.
