Problem Note 35708: SASĀ® Digital Marketing Studio might become unstable if the SMTP server is rejecting multiple e-mail addresses
Some SMTP e-mail servers validate the domains of e-mail addresses and, if they find one that is invalid, return an error message to SAS® Digital Marketing.
These errors build up in the SAS Digital Marketing server log and can cause the application to become unstable if the log file becomes too large.
The errors in the log will resemble the following:
[EXCEPTION@2009-03-06 15:44:09.341]
NODE="xxxxxxxxx.xxxxxx.xxxxxxxxx"
javax.mail.MessagingException: 501 5.5.4 Invalid Address
at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.issueCommand(SMTPTransport.java:923)
at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.mailFrom(SMTPTransport.java:643)
at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.sendMessage(SMTPTransport.java:322)
at com.sas.email.send.ThrottleManager.run(Unknown Source)
The symptoms include:
- an End-of-File error when starting SAS Digital Marketing Studio
- an RMI error when starting SAS Digital Marketing Studio and then no "tree" visible in the navigation pane
To rectify the problem, delete all messages under !SDMROOT/pending and !SDMROOT/spool.
Then delete all throttled domains in the configuration dialog box.
Select the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
