Installation Note 35547: The SAS® OLAP Server fails to start in SAS® 9.2 (TS2M0)
In SAS 9.2 TS2M0, if you define a different userID that will own your started tasks (rather than having the SAS installer ID own all of the tasks started by SAS), the following error might occur when you start your SAS OLAP Server:
INSUFFICIENT AUTHORITY TO MKDIR
This problem is caused when the SAS® OLAP Server attempts to allocate a sample library in the configuration directory structure which is owned by the SAS installer ID, instead of being a traditional z/OS data set.
There are two possible circumventions for this problem:
1. Ensure that the library is NOT preassigned.
Perform the following steps:
- In SAS® Management Console under Data Library Manager, open the Libraries folder.
- Right-click STP Samples.
- Select Properties.
- Select the Options tab.
- Click Advanced Options.
- Uncheck the Library is preassigned box.
2. Explicitly define the library as a traditional data set.
Perform the following steps:
- In SAS® Management Console under Data Library Manager, open the Libraries folder.
- Right-click STP Samples.
- Select Properties.
- Select the Options tab.
- Select the path name (typically high.level.qualifier.Wn.SAMPSIO).
- Click the Edit... button.
- Type MVS: in front of the data set name.
This problem is corrected if you installed SAS 9.2 beginning with the second maintenance releases.
