Problem Note 34955: The SAS® Metadata Server stops accepting new client connections and returns an error when too many files are open

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

In some circumstances, when there is a lot of activity on the SAS® Metadata Server, the server might stop accepting new client connections and write the following error in the SAS Metadata Server log file:

ERROR: Bridge protocol engine socket access method was unable to
accept a new client connection, error = 24 (Too many files are open.)

This error occurs because the SAS® process fails to completely close all of the open file descriptors. In order to restore normal functioning, you must stop the SAS Metadata Server and then restart it.
