Problem Note 34955: The SAS® Metadata Server stops accepting new client connections and returns an error when too many files are open
In some circumstances, when there is a lot of activity on the SAS® Metadata Server, the server might stop accepting new client connections and write the following error in the SAS Metadata Server log file:
ERROR: Bridge protocol engine socket access method was unable to
accept a new client connection, error = 24 (Too many files are open.)
This error occurs because the SAS® process fails to completely close all
of the open file descriptors.
In order to restore normal functioning, you must stop the SAS Metadata Server and then restart it.
Select the Hot Fix tab in this note to access a SAS® 9.2 hot fix for this issue.
