Problem Note 34915: Submitting a blank user ID when logging in to the SAS® Metadata Server causes the server memory usage to increase suddenly

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

If a user submits a blank user ID when prompted to log in to the SAS Metadata Server, the server memory usage might suddenly increase substantially and prevent other users from connecting to the server. A client connection message like the following will appear in the metadata server log:

New client connection (19757) accepted from server port 8561 for user @domain.

This problem occurs when the metadata server is configured to use an alternative authentication provider and the authentication provider allows you to make an anonymous bind. Because the user did not provide credentials, the metadata server ultimately issues a query to fetch all attributes of all entries in the authentication provider database. The results of the query that are returned to the metadata server are huge, causing the spike in metadata server memory usage.

To avoid this problem, always provide valid credentials when logging in to client applications that connect to the SAS Metadata Server.
