Problem Note 34417: The Summary procedure and SQL methods of metadata generation return different counts

There are two methods to choose from in order to generate metadata in the SAS® Management Console, SAS® Customer Intelligence, Administration Resource, and Information Map metadata plug-in:
- structured query language (SQL)
- the SAS Summary procedure
Both of these methods should return the same counts in the metadata; however they might not.
If you use PROC Summary, when the data contains NULL values it fails to append values to the metadata.
A workaround is to use only the structured query language (SQL).
