Problem Note 34022: The COPY and PASTE commands stop working in SAS and the SAS session does not respond
In SAS, the COPY and PASTE commands might stop working and the SAS session does not respond. The following message displays in the message line at the bottom of the SAS Display Manager:
ERROR: Not enough memory to create a new Paste Buffer.
This problem occurs when you use the COPY and PASTE commands several times in SAS, which causes the paste buffer to fill up. To fix this problem, restart your SAS session.
A workaround is to open the Windows Clipboard and clear it out periodically. To clear the Clipboard, follow these steps:
- Open Microsoft Outlook.
- Select Edit ► Office Clipboard.
- Click Clear All to clear the Clipboard.
If Outlook is not installed on your machine, then you can run the clipbrd.exe file to start the Clipboard. For more information about clipbrd.exe, see Microsoft’s Web site, “Windows 2000 Services.”
A fix is planned for a future release of SAS.
