Installation Note 34773: During a SAS® 9.2 installation, the SAS® installation data file might be rejected with an error that points to the selected SAS® software order
During a SAS 9.2 installation, when you select a SAS installation data file (SID file) on the Specify SAS Installation Data File page in the SAS® Deployment Wizard, SAS compares the information in the selected SID file with the SID file that is on your installation media. If specific information in the two SID files does not match, the following error message is displayed:
Warning: The specified SAS installation data file is not
Intended to be used with the selected SAS software order.
The SAS site number and operating system must be the same in both SID files. There are two situations in which this error occurs:
- When you specified a SID file for the wrong site number
- When the site number for your installation has changed
As of September 2009, a new SAS site number is assigned to sites that previously had Windows x64 and Windows 32-bit editions of SAS 9.2 with the same SAS 9.2 site number. If those circumstances apply to your site, you need to obtain new media with the new SAS site number.
In most cases, the correct SID file has the same name as the original SID file but contains
a different order number. The original SID file is usually located in the sas software depot\sid_files folder.
SID files for SAS 9.2 follow the naming convention shown below:
sas92_order-number_site-number_host-platform.txt
To determine the SAS site number(s) for your SAS software depot, do the following:
- Obtain the six-digit order number from the Select SAS Software Order page in the SAS Deployment Wizard or from the
sas software depot\order_data folder.
- Open the soi.html file in the
sas software depot\install_doc\ORDER#\ folder.
- Search the soi.html file for the string
Tech Support Site Number, to obtain the SAS site number for the SAS software depot or SAS media. There could be multiple site numbers in one depot. So, search for all occurrences.
To correct this error and proceed with your installation, do the following:
- Click Browse on the Specify SAS Installation Data file page.
- Specify a SID file with a site number associated with your SAS software depot.
If You Are Installing Only SAS Client Software (such as SAS® Enterprise Guide®)
If you are not installing SAS
® Foundation software, but the SAS software depot contains only SAS Foundation for a platform other than Windows workstation, then select the SID file for the platform, such as UNIX or Windows Server, to install only SAS clients.
