Problem Note 34766: Auto configuration of WebLogic in the SAS® Deployment Wizard might fail with a return status of FAILED_NOT_RESTARTABLE
WebLogic auto configuration might fail in the SAS Deployment Wizard with a return status of FAILED_NOT_RESTARTABLE, and might cause the the following error to appear in the configuration log file:
C:\Program Files\SAS\SASDeploymentManager\9.2\products
\cfgwizard__92210__prt__xx__sp0__1\Utilities
\webAppAntTasks_weblogic.xml:437: failed to start server SASServer1.
Return status: FAILED_NOT_RESTARTABLE
The SASServer1.log file will contain the following error:
####<Feb 2, 2009 9:27:11 AM EST> <Error> <Configuration Management> <> <> <main>
<> <> <> <1233584831941> <BEA-150020> <
The managed server could not reach the admin server at http://hostname:7501.>
The problem is caused by the inability of the proxy server that was entered into the SAS Deployment Wizard to resolve the short host name. Hence, SASServer1 is unable to contact the administration server. SASServer1 eventually times out with a status of FAILED_NOT_RESTARTABLE.
There are three workarounds that you can use to address this issue. Selection of a particular workaround depends on where you are in the installation process.
Workaround 1: If the SAS Deployment Wizard is asking Would you like to continue the remaining configuration steps?:
- Log in Weblogic Console via http://admin-server.host-name:7501/console.
- Expand the Environment node on the Domain Structure menu.
- Click Servers.
- Select the server named AdminServer(admin).
- Click the Lock & Edit button.
- Change the Listen Address: from the short name to the fully qualifed domain name.
- Click Save.
- Click the Activate Changes button.
- Close the browser.
- Stop AdminServer by executing the stopWebLogic script file (.cmd/.sh) in using the SAS-configuration-directory\Lev1\Web\SASDomain\bin directory.
- Start AdminServer by using the startWebLogic script file (.cmd/.sh) in the SAS-configuration-directory\Lev1\Web\SASDomain\bin directory.
- Start the SASServer1 managed server by using the startManagedWebLogic script file in the SAS-configuration-directory\Lev1\Web\SASDomain\bin directory.
For example:
startManagedWebLogic.cmd SASServer1 http://
admin-server.host-name.com:7501.
- Click the Retry button in SAS Deployment Wizard.
Workaround 2: If you have already answered yes to continue:
- Stop the configuration.
- Following the instructions for unconfiguring (or removing) your middle tier as documented in the SAS® 9.2 Intelligence Platform: Installation and Configuration Guide.
- Rerun the SAS Deployment Wizard.
- Continue with the intructions in Workaround 3 below.
Workaround 3: If you know prior to installation that your proxy server does not recognize short host-names:
Add the following JVM option:
-Dhttp.nonProxyHosts="*. domain.name.com|server-name|local-host"
To add that option, select Custom on the Select Configuration Level Prompting page of the SAS Deployment Wizard. When you are prompted by the Web Application Server pages, you can add the JVM option.
