Usage Note 34762: Specifying the V6 engine in a LIBNAME statement causes a "V6 engine cannot be found" error on Solaris for x64, on HP for Itanium, and on Linux

DetailsAboutRate It

If you are running SAS® 9 on Solaris for x64, on HP for Itanium, or on Linux (32-bit or 64-bit) and you specify the V6 engine in a LIBNAME statement, the following error occurs:

ERROR: The V6 engine cannot be found.
ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement.

There was not a release of SAS 6.xx for these platforms, so there is no V6 engine available.
To circumvent the problem, convert SAS data sets to the V9 format using SAS 9.xx on an operating system for which there was a SAS 6.xx release.
