When you run the SAS 9.2 Renew SAS Software tool, an error message that is similar to the following might appear:

Renew SAS Software - sas91_xxxxxx.txt

  An error occurred applying the setinit file.  Please refer to the log
   file for additional information.
   C:\Program Files\SAS\SASFoundation\9.2\setinit.log

This error occurs when you run the software renewal tool and you select a SAS installation data file (SID) file for SAS^® 9.1 or SAS 9.1.3 instead of selecting a SID file for SAS 9.2 .

The following error message appears in the setinit.log file:

Error: Will not attempt to apply setinit because the current release
of 9.2 and the release= option value of 9.1 do not match

To correct the problem, during the SAS software renewal process, select the SID file for SAS 9.2, not a SID file for SAS 9.1 . The SAS 9.2 SID file uses the following naming convention:

In the example above, order-number and site-number correspond to your specific site, and operating-system represents the valid operating systems for the SID file.

To obtain the SAS 9.2 SID file, contact your SAS Installation Representative or go to Administrator Services and select Resend SAS 9 SAS Installation Data (SID).

To determine your SAS Installation Representative, enter your SAS Site number at SAS Support Personnel at your Site. Note that you need to enter your SAS profile information in order to access this site.
