Problem Note 34659: Incorrect YTD currency conversion amounts might be be displayed
When using the YTD currency option (-Dodcs.accounting.flowytd=true) in SAS® Financial Management, incorrect year-to-date values might be displayed for a flow account with a simple exchange rate, and a display currency different than the default currency.
For example, the following values are entered with a display currency of USD while the default currency is AUD. There is no data entered in prior months.
May YTD 2 USD
June YTD 3 USD
Exchange rates (AUD per each USD):
May 5
June 6
- In May, a value of 10 AUD (2 USD * 5 exchange rate) is stored, which is correct.
- In June, an incorrect value of 6 AUD (3-2 USD * 6 exchange rate) is stored and therefore a value of 2.67 June USD YTD (10 + 6 AUD/6 exchange rate) is displayed rather than 3.
The calculation should be done in the default currency (AUD) rather than the display currency (USD). By doing so,
- in June a value of 8 AUD (3 USD * 6 June exchange rate - 2 USD * 5 May exch rate) should be stored
instead of 6. - Then a June USD YTD query would correctly display 3 (10 + 8 AUD/6 June exchange rate).
