If a variable listed on the VAR statement in PROC X12 is set to missing for all observations in the DATA= data set or within a given BY group, then the procedure should print the following errors and continue processing the remaining variables or BY groups:

The above correct behavior occurs if the number of missing values for a given variable in the DATA= data set or within a given BY group is 80 or less. However, if the DATA= data set or a BY group contains at least one variable with 81 or more missing values, then the X12 procedure prints the following error message and stops processing:

If the above error is encountered and the OUT= option is specified in the OUTPUT statement, then the OUT= data set is not created by the X12 procedure.

To circumvent the problem, omit any variables that contain more than 80 missing values from the VAR statement.
