Usage Note 33888: Configuring your SAS® software to use the current version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
When you are installing SAS 9.1.3, the SAS Private JRE file for the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) features of Foundation SAS® is installed. Beginning with SAS 9.2, the JRE is installed directly from Sun.
During the installation, the path to the Java installation is copied to the sasv9.cfg file in the JREOPTIONS system option. The JRE options are defined in the sasv9.cfg file, which is located in the !sasroot\nls\en directory (the default location is C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1\nls\en\sasv9.cfg).
Occasionally, Sun releases an update for the JRE. If you remove an earlier version of the JRE and then install the latest JRE, the installation might result in an invalid path to the JRE. If this issue occurs, you need to update the JREOPTIONS system option to include the new path. If your site uses automated installers to push new JRE versions onto workstations, configure the installer so that it creates or modifies the system environment variable that is set to the value of the installation path. For example:
jre_home=C:\PROGRA~1\Java\JRE15~2.0_1
Note: Use the MS-DOS 8.3 short filename format for the JRE filename.
When you have this variable, you can reference it in the JREOPTIONS system option, as follows:
-jreoptions(-Dsas.jre.libjvm=!jre_home\bin\client\jvm.dll ..continues..)
If the installation path is updated in the environment variable during software roll-outs, your SAS software should be able to find the current path for the JRE.
For more information about setting up environment variables, see "How To Manage Environment Variables in Windows XP" on the Microsoft Web site. In addition, for more information about this topic, search "environment variable" in the Help system for your operating environment.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
SAS 9.2 uses a standard Java installation; whereas, SAS 9.1.3 installs a private JRE file. Thus, you might have to configure the JREOPTIONS option to point to an updated version.
