Problem Note 33572: The UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD procedures for SAS/CONNECT® software lose linguistic sorting information

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

In SAS/CONNECT software, when you use PROC UPLOAD or PROC DOWNLOAD to transfer a data set that was created in the SORT procedure with SORTSEQ=LINGUISTIC, the linguistic sorting information can be lost. When that happens, your data set is not recognized as being sorted. That is, anything (for example, BY processing) that depends on the sorting order does not recognize the data set as sorted.

The following WARNING message is written out in your SAS log:

WARNING: Incompatible linguistic collating sequence. Linguistic collating sequence will not be set.
