Problem Note 33414: An error occurs when you include the ENCODING option in the FILENAME statement
If you use the ENCODING option in the FILENAME statement, SAS generates an error. For example, the following statement...
filename xml catalog "library.catalog.filename.xml" encoding='utf-8';
...generates the following error:
ERROR 23-2: Invalid option name ENCODING.
The ENCODING option is not available for the catalog access method because the FILENAME statement does not support the ENCODING option with the catalog engine. Catalog files would have to be read and written in session encoding.
