Problem Note 33084: An SQLPLAN internal error might occur when reference a variable from an in-line view that created the variable from a constant
In Base SAS® software, an SQLPLAN internal error might occur when you reference a variable from an in-line view that created this new variable from a constant.
The following code illustrates one case that can produce the SQLPLAN internal errors:
proc sql;
select b.geoname,sum(a.permits) as permits
from(select statename as geoname, permits
from PLACE) a,
(select 'North Carolina' as geoname
from tbltmplt) b
where a.geoname=b.geoname;
quit;
In this case, the following error message is generated:
ERROR: sqlplan internal error: Cannot find symbol geoname,
var=3, tag=0002. This message can be caused by attempting to
make correlated references between two different items on a
single FROM clause.
