Problem Note 33067: Additional information might be available when SAS® software generates I/O errors
When SAS software returns generic I/O errors, the software does not indicate why an error occurred. Beginning with SAS® 9.2 Phase 1, additional information might be generated in the Windows System Event Viewer. Whether additional information is provided depends on the cause of the error. If the operating system generates the error, there is a better chance that additional information appears in the system event viewer.
When I/O errors occur during a SAS 9.2 Phase I session of SAS, go to the Event Viewer and click Application. Look for warnings or errors that are associated with the SAS process. This information would be more detailed and informative than the warnings and errors in the SAS log.
