During a SAS 9.1.3 installation, the System Requirements Wizard states that the SAS Private JRE must be installed. When the installation has completed for the JRE, the following error may occur:

This might be seen from a very early version of SAS 9.1.3 (Rev #20), although might also happen with the later revision of SAS, such as Rev #38. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this problem:

1. Verify that the SAS Private JRE is installed. If it is not, try to run the System Requirments Wizard again, make sure you are logged in as the Administrator and that all of the other programs are closed, including anti-virus software.
   
   
2. If the installation was performed from a SAS Software Depot, try installing from the physical media (and vice versa). In this case you can insert the SAS Setup CD and run the System Requirements.
   
   
3. Uninstall the SAS Private JRE by clicking Start ► Settings ► Control Panel ► Add/Remove Programs and select SAS Private JRE (J2SE™) Java Runtime Environment 1.4.2_09 and the SAS Private JRE (J2SE™) Java Runtime Environment 1.4.1. Reboot the PC and run the SAS System Requirements Wizard again.
   
   
4. Run the System Requirements Wizard in Safe Mode, by pressing F8 at the beginning of a reboot. To get more information on Safe Mode, select Start ► Help and Support, and type Safe Mode on the Search line.
   
   
5. Go to the SAS Private JRE directory and rename it. The default location is C:\Program Files\SAS\ Shared Files\JRE\1.4.2_09;, rename this to C:\Program Files\SAS\Shared Files\JRE\ 1.4.2_09_old. Now reinstall the SAS Private JRE 1.4.2_09 piece from the SAS Setup CD, by manually running <drive letter:\disk1\srw\bundles  \sasjre\JRESetup.exe.
