Problem Note 32731: SAS® Campaign Studio re-draws links between nodes and allows illegal links to be drawn in diagrams

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

When creating diagrams in SAS Campaign Studio, it is possible for the application to either:

  1. Allow links to be drawn that are not permitted.
  2. Redraw links to connect nodes other than those selected.

The circumstances that provoke these issues are very specific and, if avoided, you will not experience any problems. However, if you find yourself experiecing either of these issues, it is most likely due to one of the following scenarios.

An inter-node link was dragged and dropped, which enables the creation of an illegal connection

The following actions would cause an invalid connection to be made:

  1. Start with a blank campaign, then add 4 nodes: cell(1), and, cell, map.
  2. Create the following connections:
       cell(1) ► and
       map ► and
       and ► cell

  3. Now, click on the link map ► and.
  4. Drag the end of the link from and to cell.
  5. The connection is allowed.

A link was drawn incorrectly

The following actions would re-draw links between nodes:

  1. Open a new campaing/diagram.
  2. Add 1 multi-select node + 2 cell nodes.
  3. Link multi-select ► cell(1).
  4. Save the diagram.
  5. Move the cursor over the cell(2) node so that it changes to a pencil.
  6. Select the node.
  7. Move the cursor over the link between multi ► cell(1), near the multi node so that it changes to a 4-arrows shape, which enables you to resize or change objects.
  8. Click and drag the link out of the multi node onto an empty workspace.
  9. Release the mouse buttom.
  10. At this moment, the mouse cursor should change its shape to an hourglass and, after a while, the diagram should be marked as changed, with an asterisk (*) near its name.
  11. Save the diagram, close it, and then reopen.
  12. You will see a link between cell(2) and cell(1).

Select the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.

Without the hot fix, the only workaround is to avoid performing either of the scenarios described above.
