Problem Note 32708: The SAS® system option NOSORTMSG might cause an abnormal ending with a 999 abend code

When you use the SAS system option NOSORTMSG in the CONFIG file or on the command line, the job might end abnormally with a 999 abend code and cause the following message to appear in the SASCLOG file:
OPTION NOSORTMSG IN CONFIG FILE REQUIRES A CHARACTER VALUE
To circumvent this problem, code the option in an OPTIONS statement in your SAS program according to the following example:
OPTIONS NOSORTMSG;
