If an error occurs in the data prep macro and it does not create the summarized data set, the analysis remains in update with the gear icon showing.
To clear the gear icon, use the Job Queue (select Tools ► Job Queue) and click the Clear My Finished Jobs button. This causes the next run of the Job Control Table synch (usually within three minutes) to mark the job showing the gear icon as Error. You can then delete the job. The messages can be viewed, but will have only message keys, not the actual messages.
After clearing the gear icon, investigate and resolve the error in the data prep macro.
