SAS/ACCESS Interface to ODBC and SAS/ACCESS Interface to OLE DB use different formats to return globally unique identifiers (GUIDs) that are used in Microsoft SQL Server. SAS/ACCESS Interface to OLE DB encloses GUIDs in curly braces, whereas SAS/ACCESS Interface to ODBC does not. The following examples illustrate the two different formats:

The difference in formatting can also be problematic when you join DBMS tables that contain the unique identifier with SAS data sets.
