You can add and modify properties to globally customize your SAS Web Report Studio deployment. The method for setting the properties depends on which version of the application you are running.
Version 4.2 and later
Most of the properties for SAS Web Report Studio 4.2 and later are maintained by using the Configuration Manager plug-in to SAS Management Console. For information about some specific properties that you can set, see Configuring SAS Web Report Studio (SAS® 9.2) or Configuring SAS Web Report Studio (SAS 9.3).
A few properties for 4.2 and later are still maintained in the LocalProperties.xml file. Those properties are identified in individual SAS notes. For information about the LocalProperties.xml file, see the next topic in this note.
CAUTION: If you set a property in both the Configuration Manager and the LocalProperties.xml file, then the properties in the LocalProperties.xml file are used.
Version 3.1
The configuration and properties files for version 3.1 are located on the middle-tier server on which SAS Web Report Studio is deployed. One of those files is the WebReportStudioProperties.xml file, which contains application property settings for SAS Web Report Studio. For example, this file includes settings for performance, clustering, pooling, styles, disclaimers, and SAS Web Report Studio roles.
Because the WebReportStudioProperties.xml file can be overwritten by subsequent installation activities such as applying a hot fix, you should set your application properties in a LocalProperties.xml file, which is stored in centralized location that is not affected by subsequent installation. Settings in the LocalProperties.xml file override conflicting settings in the WebReportStudioProperties.xml file.
Follow these steps to create a LocalProperties.xml file.
- Depending on which version of SAS Web Report Studio that you are running, locate the
LocalProperties.xml.sample file.
- For version 3.1, the file is in the SAS installation directory. An example of this location on Windows is
C:\Program Files\SAS\SASWebReportStudio\3.1\customer.
- For version 4.2, the file is in the SAS configuration directory. An example of this location on Windows is
C:\SAS\EntBIServer\Lev1\Web\Applications\SASWebReportStudio4.2\customer.
- Make a copy of this file and name it
LocalProperties.xml.
After the file is created, make sure that you use it to modify properties that you do not want to be overwritten. Restart your servlet container after making changes.
For more information about version 3.1 properties, see SAS Web Report Studio Configuration Files and Tools .
Note: For version 3.1, if you need to make this change for the SAS Web Report Viewer, the LocalProperties.xml file is in sas-install-dir\SASWebReportViewer\3.1\customer.
