Usage Note 32374: Determining whether you have SAS® 9.2 32-bit or SAS 9.2 x64 installed on Windows x64

To determine if you have SAS 9.2 32-bit (for Windows) or 64-bit (for x64 Windows) installed on your x64 machine, check the following:

Method 1

Select Start ► All Programs ► SAS ► SAS 9.2. A menu displays:

  • If you see SAS 9.2 (32) (English) listed, you have SAS 9.2 for 32-bit Windows installed on your Windows x64 operating system.
  • If you see SAS 9.2 (English) listed, you have SAS 9.2 for x64 Windows installed on your Windows x64 operating system.

Method 2

Open SAS 9.2 and look in your log. At the top of the log in the notes, you will have either of the following notes:

  • SAS 9.2 (32-bit version)
    NOTE: SAS(r) Proprietary Software 9.2 (TS1M0)
          Licensed to Windows Full Product Order, Site XXXXXXXXXX.
    Note: This session is executing on the XP_Pro platform.
    
  • SAS 9.2 (x64 version)
    NOTE: SAS(r) Proprietary Software 9.2 (TS1M0)
          Licensed to Microsoft Windows for x64 Full Product Order, Site XXXXXXXXXXX.
    Note: This session is executing on the x64_Pro  platform.
    

Does this system have an x64 or a 32-bit BI installation?

  1. Click Start ► Settings ► Control Panel ► Administrative tools ► Services.
  2. Right-click Metadata Server Service.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Under the General tab, navagate to the executable.

    You have a x64 BI installation if you see C:\Program Files\SAS\SASFoundation\9.2\SAS.EXE

    You have a 32-bit BI installation if you see C:\Program Files\SAS\SASFoundation\9.2 (32-bit)\sas.exe.
