The export feature in the SAS BI Web applications can map standard SAS formats so that they will display in Excel in the same way that they display in SAS. However, user-defined formats can be mapped only to generic Excel formats. This means that user-defined formats will not display in Excel in the same way that they display in SAS.

With the third maintenance release for SAS 9.2 (TS2M3), when rendering HTML for Excel, numeric values with a user-defined format will remain numeric but they will display the formatted value. For example, if your format replaces the value 1 with the phrase "Chicago", then the SAS Add-In will display "Chicago". In previous versions, the value 1 is displayed.
