Installation Note 32004: In SAS® 9.2, the SAS Private Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is no longer part of the installation

The installation of the SAS Private JRE has changed from SAS 9.1.3 to SAS 9.2. SAS no longer requires a SAS Private JRE and, instead, requires a JRE that is provided by one of the following vendors, depending on the operating system: SUN, HP, IBM, BEA. This requirement provides more flexibility, especially when a new security update for JRE is available. SAS continually updates the third-party Web site to provide the latest JRE updates.
On the Windows operating system in 9.2, the SAS® Deployment Wizard searches the registry for the "exact" recommended version; otherwise, it installs the recommended version of the JRE for you. If you do not have a JRE installed on your PC, SAS installs it to C:\Program Files\Java. (In SAS 9.1.3 the SAS Private JRE was installed to C:\Program Files\SAS\Shared Files\JRE\1.4.2_09.) This functionality provides an experience that is as silent as possible, providing the most seamless install.
