Beginning with revision 67 (SAS ship event 37), the SAS Performance Management Solutions client components support the use of Microsoft Office 2007. Please see the bottom of this note for instructions on how to determine the revision/ship event that you have installed at your site. This is relevant for SAS Financial Management 4.4, SAS Human Capital Management 4.4, SAS Strategic Performance Management 2.4.

If you are installing any of the release x.4 SAS Performance Management Solutions for the first time, please follow the instructions referenced in the SAS Road Map(s). The SAS Road Maps are included in your SAS Installation Media package, and provide instructions to complete the installation of all necessary components.

If you have an existing SAS Performance Management Solutions x.4 installation, you need to update only the SAS client Add-in components to use Microsoft Office 2007.

For SAS Financial Management, all of the following steps need to be completed on each client machine.

For SAS Strategic Performance Management, omit step 7.

For SAS Human Capital Management, omit steps 6 and 7.

1. Using Add/Remove Programs from the Windows Control Panel, remove the existing client Add-in components in the following order, if present on the client machine:
       a. SAS Financial Management Add-in for Microsoft Excel
       b. SAS Solutions Services Add-in for Microsoft Office
       c. SAS Add-in for Microsoft Office
   

       Please note that there is no impact on, nor need to update, the SAS Financial Management Studio client.

2. Restart the client machine.
3. Ensure that Microsoft Office 2007 has been installed on the client machine.
4. *Obtain the following CDs from the SAS Installation Media package:
       a. SAS BI Reporting Clients (CD label ‘27Mar2008 CT09S6’, also known as ‘client9cd’)
       b. SAS Solutions Client Components (CD label ‘27Mar2008 CT25SB’, also known as ‘client25cd’)
       c. SAS Financial Management Client Components (CD label ‘27Mar2008 CT18SA’, also known as ‘client18cd’)
5. Insert the SAS BI Reporting Clients CD.
       a. The SAS Software Navigator or SAS Deployment Wizard automatically starts.
       b. Select the language for this install.
       c. Highlight SAS Add-in for Microsoft Office 2.1, and select Install.
       d. Upon completion, close the SAS Software Navigator or SAS Deployment Wizard window.
6. Insert the SAS Solutions Client Components CD.
       a. The SAS Software Navigator or SAS Deployment Wizard automatically starts.
       b. Select the language for this install.
       c. Highlight SAS Solutions Services Add-in for Microsoft Office, and select Install.
       d. When prompted to enter the URL for the available servers, enter the fully qualified name of your mid-tier server, for example:
           <http:\\yourserver.yourcompany.com:7001>
           Please note that 7001 is the default port to use. If you have SSL applied, use port 7003 instead.
       e. Upon completion, close the SAS Software Navigator or SAS Deployment Wizard window.
7. Insert the SAS Financial Management Client Components CD.
       a. The SAS Software Navigator or SAS Deployment Wizard automatically starts.
       b. Select the language for this install.
       c. Highlight SAS Financial Management Add-in for Microsoft Excel, and select Install.
       d. Upon completion, close the SAS Software Navigator or SAS Deployment Wizard window.

To determine the revision/ship event that you have installed (for SAS Financial Management 4.4.1 and earlier):
    a. Use a text editor to open the <sassetup.log> file on the server where your SAS Solutions are installed. The default location for this file is
        <<drive>:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1>.
    b. Search for the text "Current CD Set version". Note that there might be more than one instance of "Current CD Set version", so search for the most recent (date) entry in the log.
    c. Subtract 30 from the "Current CD Set version" number to determine the ship event (for example, if "Current CD Set version" is 67, this is SAS ship event 37).

To determine your revision/ship event for SAS Financial Management 5.1 and later, please refer to SAS Note 35627.

* In this process, only the client components are updated, so the use of a software depot is not necessary. However, for easier distribution, you might choose to create a software depot for these client component updates. To create the depot, please refer to Chapter 14 of the SAS Solutions Services 1.4 System Administration Guide, “Client Installation and Configuration”. You should also reference the same chapter if you have any questions regarding the above installation steps.
