Problem Note 31908: "ERROR: Bridge protocol engine socket access method was unable to connect an outcall socket..." occurs in the METALIB procedure
If you run PROC METALIB to connect to a server that has a long DNS host name (longer than 40 characters), PROC METALIB will fail with an error similar to the following:
ERROR: Bridge protocol engine socket access method was unable to connect an outcall
socket to longtruncatedmetadataserverhostnamexxxxx:8561, error = 0 (An unexpected error has occurred.)
In this message, 'longtruncatedmetadataserverhostnamexxxxx' represents the first 40 characters of your metadata server host name. The error occurs because PROC METALIB truncates the host name to 40 characters and is unable to locate the machine.
To circumvent the problem, specify the metadata server IP address instead of the DNS machine name in the METASERVER= option.

(An unexpected error has occurred.)" when the metadata server host name exceeds 40 characters.
