Problem Note 31343: #NAME is displayed instead of values in a SAS® Financial Management report
If #NAME is displayed instead of values in a SAS Financial Management report, this might indicate that the SAS Financial Management Add-In for Microsoft Excel is not found on the client machine. This problem might occur if the SAS Financial Management Functions.xla file is saved to the wrong installation location on the client machine.
The proper location for this file is as follows:
- drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE10\Library (for Office 2002 installations)
- drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\Library (for Office 2003 installations)
- drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12\Library (for Office 2007 installations)
- drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE14\Library (for Office 2010 installations)
- drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE15\Library (for Office 2013 installations)
Also consider that if a machine has a non-English version of the Windows operating system, the Library folder might have a different name, for example:
- ...\OFFICE11\Bibliothek (German)
- ...\OFFICE 11\Biblioteca (Italian)
If any client machine still has the SAS Financial Management Functions.xla file in a different location, do the following:
- Open Excel.
- For Excel 2003: Select Tools ► Add-Ins from the menu bar.
For Excel 2007: Click the Office button. Select Add-Ins. At the bottom of the page, select Manage: Excel Add-Ins and then select Go.
For Excel 2010: Select File ► Options from the menu bar. Select Add-Ins. At the bottom of the page, select Manage: Excel Add-Ins and then select Go.
For Excel 2013: Select File ► Options from the menu bar. Select Add-Ins. At the bottom of the page, select Manage: Excel Add-Ins, and then select Go.
- Deselect SAS Financial Management Functions, and click OK.
- Exit out of Excel.
- Move the SAS Financial Management Functions.xla file to the location indicated above. Ensure that this is the only place the file is located; remove any other instance of the file from the client machine.
- Open Excel and select Tools ► Add-Ins. Click the Browse button, navigate to the folder specified above, select SAS Financial Management Functions.xla, and click OK.
- Exit out of Excel and then restart the application.
If any reports were created with the SAS Financial Management Functions.xla file in the wrong location, you need to update each report as follows:
- For Excel 2003: Select Edit ► Links from the Excel menu bar.
For Excel 2007: Select Data ► Edit Links from the Excel menu bar.
For Excel 2010: Select Data ► Edit Links from 'Connections' grouping.
For Excel 2013: Select Data ► Edit Links from 'Connections' grouping.
- In the Edit Links dialog box, select Change Source.
- Navigate to the correct location of the SAS Financial Management Functions.xla file, and click OK.
Note that you need to update each report after you make any changes to the location of the SAS Financial Management Functions.xla file. Otherwise, the problem of #NAME being displayed instead of values in a SAS Financial Management report will re-occur.
