Problem Note 31147: Performance issues might occur with the SASĀ® OLAP Server in the z/OS environment
A SAS OLAP Server running in the z/OS environment might experience performance issues,
including slow response time to queries. This can happen because the SAS OLAP Server uses a
large number of TK memory pools, which causes excessive CPU usage when these pools are created and deleted.
A hot fix is available that reduces CPU time for the SAS OLAP Server and results in improved response time to OLAP cube queries.
Select the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
In addition to applying the hot fix, you must set the following new TKMVSENV environment variable
to take advantage of the server improvements:
set TKOPT_KEEPPOOL=
Add this line to the member of your installation data set
high-level-qualifier.encoding.SRVENV that corresponds to your OLAP server. The member name should match the started task name of
your SAS OLAP Server, where high-level-qualifier is the prefix of your SAS installation
data sets and encoding is your encoding (W0 for US, W9 for the UK, W3 for Germany, and so on).
This TK environment variable should be set only for the SAS OLAP Server on z/OS. Setting this
TK environment variable for any other SAS server or spawner could have an adverse effect in
performance for that SAS server or spawner on z/OS.
Refer to Problem Note 31641 for related information about other
TKMVSENV environment variables that should be considered for tuning the server environment.
