Usage Note 31755: Calculating net present value using end of period values
The SAS net present value FUNCTIONS, NPV and NETPV, are documented as assuming that cash flows are beginning-of-period values. If cash flows are end-of-period values then code an initial cash flow of 0. For instance, the example for NETPV uses this FUNCTION call:
value=netpv(.10, .5, -500, 200, 300, 400);
where -500 is the initial cash flow. It could be modified as such
value=netpv(.10, .5, 0, -500, 200, 300, 400);
for end-of-period values.
Note that Excel's NPV function assumes end-of-period values.

The SAS net present value FUNCTIONS use beginning of period values while the Excel NPV FUNCTION uses end of period values
