Usage Note 31658: A numeric-overflow error occurs during computation with SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Teradata
When you read a Teradata table with the SQL procedure's Pass-Through facility with SAS/ACCESS Interface to Teradata, you might get the following error:
ERROR: Teradata row not delivered (trget): Numeric overflow
occurred during computation.
However, if you use the same query (SELECT * FROM TERA_TABLE) in the Basic Teradata Query (BTEQ) facility, the query processes without an error.
This difference is that BTEQ operates in Teradata mode, while the PROC SQL Pass-Through facility operates in ANSI mode. Operating in ANSI mode causes the error.
To resolve this problem, use MODE=TERADATA in the connection options, as shown in the following example:
proc sql;
connect to teradata(user=testuser pass=testpass mode=teradata);
run;
See your Teradata SQL reference manual for a complete discussion of ANSI mode versus Teradata mode.
