Problem Note 31598: SASĀ® BI Server Web Services stops responding
There might be occasions when SAS BI Server Web Services for Java suddenly stops functioning.
This issue is related to a portal error and indicates that the SAS Guest Login has been removed:
com.sas.portal.delegates.authentication.AbstractLogonDelegate.configureSession
This error occurs because the user name, which is sasguest by default, has been defined in the server
deployment directory, .../SASXMLA/WEB-INF/conf/xmla.config.
This user ID must also be defined within the login of a user within the User Manager, and it must also be functional
and properly defined in the operating system.
You can learn more about this issue in defect S0372329.
Using the samples provided by SAS BI Web Services for Java, you can test the discovery with the
following request and response code to see if there are any errors:
SOAP request:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<soap-env:Envelope xmlns:soap-env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">

SOAP response:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<soap-env:Envelope xmlns:soap-env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi=
"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"><soap-
env:Body><soap-env:Fault><faultcode<soap-env:Client</faultcode><faultactor>SAS XML for Analysis
Provider</faultactor><faultstring>The SAS XML for Analysis Provider encountered an error</faultstring><detail>
<Error ErrorCode="99" Description=
"Exception occurred during user authentication: com.sas.services.user.UserUnknownException: The
authentication mechanism couldn't associate an identity to the authenticated user." Source="SAS XML for Analysis
Provider" HelpFile=""/></detail></soap-env:Fault></soap-env:Body></soap-env:Envelope>
As you can see in the response above, an error occurred during user authentication.
To remedy this issue, replace the login for sasguest via the SAS® Management Console, making sure
that the new user ID is correctly defined as described above.
