Usage Note 31579: Support for the IBM zIIP and zAAP engines in SAS® software
SAS® software does not directly use the IBM z Systems Integrated Information Processor (zIIP) and IBM z Systems Application Assist Processor (zAAP) engines under z/OS. However, other system products that SAS software interacts with (such as sort utilities, DB2, or Java) might use these engines while a SAS program is executing.
There is nothing in SAS code that specifies to look for a zIIP engine and use it. If a SAS procedure uses Java that is zIIP enabled, then the system converts those workloads to run on a zIIP engine. The system, not SAS, converts the Java workloads. Some procedures that produce output with the Output Delivery System (ODS) use Java. However, not all SAS procedures or ODS output use Java.
