When you renew your SAS 9.2 license for an Admin Client installation of SAS on Windows operating systems and you use the default location for SAS, the renewal utility appears to run successfully, but the license is not updated.

To verify that it did not run successfully, run PROC SETINIT NOALIAS; RUN; and compare the expiration date in the Log window with the expiration date in your SAS installation data file.

To renew the license:

1. Go to a workstation where the SAS client installation was performed, and log into the local machine with a user ID that has write access to the SAS Admin Client image on the server machine.
2. Run the sasrenew.exe file that is located on the local machine and, during step 2, deselect the check box.
3. Then, change the location of SAS to the location of the sas.exe file on the SAS Admin Client image on the server machine. The SAS config location will still point to the local C:\ drive of the local workstation machine.

Also note, when the license renewal is successful, the SAS log displays a new SAS 9.2 8-digit site number, which is different from your site number for previous SAS versions. Complete License Renewal Instructions are located in the SAS 9.2 Install Center:

To renew the SAS license for a SAS 9.2 Admin Client installation go to a workstation with an Admin Client image and run SASRENEW.EXE. On step 2, uncheck the box and then browse to the location of SAS.EXE on the network Admin Client image.
