Problem Note 30656: Access violation occurs when trying to create a metadata repository in Oracle on Solaris
If you attempt to create a metadata repository on the Solaris operating system that is stored in an Oracle database, you will receive the following error in the SAS® Management Console:
sam.S235.ex.msg: An exception was thrown while reading a packet header from
the socket
The SAS® Metadata Server log will include these additional messages, including an
access violation:

ERROR: IOM call failed. Internal server exception: access violation.
These errors only occur on the Solaris operating system. It is currently not possible to create a metadata repository on Solaris that is stored in an Oracle database.
In SAS® 9.2, metadata repositories can not be stored in RDBMS databases such as Oracle or DB2. All metadata repositories must be stored in SAS libraries.

An access violation will occur in the metadata server log when you try to create a metadata repository in an Oracle database on the Solaris operating system.
