If you highlight columns of text in the SAS Enhanced Editor using the ALT key and the mouse and choose delete, it might inadvertently delete text you did not intend to delete. Or, if you choose cut, no text is deleted. However, you can copy and paste the highlighted columns.
This problem surfaced in SAS 9.1.3 service pack 4.
To verify if you have the affected version of the Enhanced Editor, check to see if the file version for the coreedit.dll is 9.135.0.382 or 9.135.0.452. To see what version you have, in Windows Explorer, right-click the file and select Properties, then select the Version tab. The default location for the coreedit.dll is C:\Program Files\SAS\Shared Files\Enhanced Editor.
If SAS® Enterprise Guide® 4.1 is installed on your machine, then the workaround is to delete the text character by character. Refer to SAS Note 17821 "Unable to select and delete partial lines in Enhanced Editor of SAS® Enterprise Guide®."
To correct the problem in SAS, download and install an earlier version of the SAS Enhanced Editor, version 9.13.0.144. You must have administrator rights on your machine to install the Enhanced Editor. If you do not have administrator rights, then refer to the paragraph that follows these installation instructions.
To install the earlier version of the Enhanced Editor do the following:
C:\program files\SAS\shared files\Enhanced Editor folder to C:\program files\SAS\shared files\OLD Enhanced Editor.
If the version is still 9.135.0.382 or you do not have administrator rights, then you can just copy the Enhanced Editor files to your machine without installing. You must currently have the Enhanced Editor installed in the default location, C:\program files\SAS\shared files\Enhanced Editor. To accomplish this do the following:
Enhanced Editor folder and sub-folders.
Enhanced Editor folder.
